Dear Students,

Environmental Engineering is an engineering discipline which develops new technologies and methods for the prevention and solution of local, regional, and global scale environmental problems; such as climate change, acidification, eutrophication, and ecotoxicity. Environmental Engineering also develops new technologies and approaches for the solution of 21st century sustainability problems such as consumption and exceeding the carrying capacity of limited resources. Environmental engineering also plays an important role on identifying and ensuring the dissemination of policy tools of technical, economic, legal, administrative, political, social, and cultural aspects of these technologies. It constitutes a strong technical and social aspect by incorporating engineering and management tools.

The undergraduate Environmental Engineering program at Hacettepe University started with more than 20 years of graduate education experience. Environmental engineers have wide range of business opportunities in various fields. Environmental engineering education has experienced significant changes and enlarged its research area in the 21st century. Sustainable development which is an important stakeholder of environmental engineers has become indispensable to competition to all sectors. Our department aims to be response to the demands of the sector and provides the best environmental engineering education of our country.

  • Department of Environmental Engineering at Hacettepe University is one of the six departments with the education in English, which allows our students to develop themselves at the international level in the professional and academic area.

Our Department is located at Hacettepe University Beytepe Campus. Beytepe Campus is one of the greenest university campuses in Turkey. Students are provided all the necessary academic and social opportunities in the campus. Our libraries provide access to more than 3,000,000 books and electronic source and they are open 24 hours.

Olympic size swimming pool, tennis courts, football fields, basketball and volleyball courts which are located in Beytepe Campus offer students a wide range of sport activities. The University was established on an area of 20,000 m2 in Beytepe Campus. It has Turkey's largest Symphony Orchestra concert hall which is for 1600 people and there is a Convention Center contains halls for various events.
