As part of the weekly seminar series organized by the Environmental Engineering Department of Hacettepe University, a two-part seminar was held featuring graduate students Aslı Yıldırım and Ahmet Semih Çetiner.
In the first part, Aslı Yıldırım, a seasoned environmental engineer currently pursuing her second MSc degree in Environmental Engineering at Hacettepe University, presented her work titled “Comparative Life Cycle Assessment of MOF-Based Mixed Matrix Membranes for Post-Combustion CO₂ Capture.” The presentation focused on the environmental performance and sustainability of advanced membrane technologies used in CO₂ capture processes. Drawing from her professional background in wastewater treatment, feasibility studies, and environmental planning, she emphasized the importance of life cycle thinking in evaluating the long-term environmental impacts of emerging separation technologies.
In the second part of the seminar, Ahmet Semih Çetiner shared his research titled “Decoding Aerosol Inversion Products in the Eastern Mediterranean Using GRASP: A Synthesis of Satellite and Ground-Based Observations.” Currently in his second year of MSc studies at Hacettepe University, Çetiner discussed the application of the GRASP algorithm in analyzing atmospheric aerosols, providing insights into air quality dynamics in the Eastern Mediterranean. His multidisciplinary approach, integrating satellite data with ground-based measurements, highlighted the relevance of atmospheric modeling and data interpretation in addressing regional air pollution issues.
Both presentations showcased the significance of data-driven environmental research in tackling global challenges such as climate change and air quality management.
